Dermatology Associates of Winchester Wrinkle Treatment
Consultation – Filler Wrinkle Treatment Consultation
Dermatology Associates offers a free consultation with our laser nurse to determine whether or not a patient is a good candidate for fillers. Fillers are injectables which are used to fill certain wrinkles. The most common site is the wrinkle that appears from the nose to the corner of the lip (nasolabial line). Fillers are also used for other wrinkles around the mouth, lip augmentation and repairing various facial imperfections. At the consultation all your questions about the procedure can be answered except the physician would ultimately decide how much product is necessary to achieve your desired results. The nurse can estimate a quote based on the number of areas being treated. She can also explain why it is important to have the procedure done by a provider with experience. Dr. O’Brien and his associates have been performing this procedure for many years and to accommodate our cosmetic patients busy schedules we dedicate time specifically for our Filler Treatments.
Procedure – Filler Wrinkle Treatment Procedure
Dermatology Associates offers a variety of filler substances. Perlane, Belotero, Restylane and Juvederm are the most popular fillers at this time. Injectables are very effective at restoring volume to areas on the face that have lost elastin fibers and fatty tissue as a result of aging. By injecting tiny amounts of fillers into specific wrinkles the lines disappear to produce a smoother more youthful appearance. The procedure only takes 20-30 minutes to perform. The physician will evaluate your skin texture and elasticity and discuss which areas would benefit from a filler. The injection sites will be cleansed with an alcohol swab and the physician will proceed to inject the filler beneath the surface of the skin to plump up the wrinkle and rejuvenate the area. It is advantageous to avoid aspirin and motrin for the week before your injection to minimize the chance of a bruise.
Recovery – Filler Wrinkle Treatment Recovery
The filler procedure is considered a “no down time procedure” or no prolonged or noticeable recovery. There can be some swelling at the injection site however this is temporary. There is the rare occurrence of a bruise however makeup can be worn immediately after treatments. Most patients return to work the following day. The results of the treatment typically last 6-8 months depending on the filler used and the area treated.
